Rejuvenation Station™ and Rejuvenation Go!™ content provide a guided relaxation experience to all, with no prior meditation experience, and is based on the theories of Biophilia, and Awe!
It has been demonstrated through the Rejuvenation Station evaluation at Houston Methodist Hospital that this immersive experience placed close to where clinical staff can access will allow nurses and doctors the ability to destress on a regular basis. If this can improve employee burnout by only a fraction of what it is today, it will improve healthcare delivery for patients.
Dacher Keltner is one of the foremost theorists and scholars of awe, a long-overlooked emotion. “What the science of awe is suggesting is that opportunities for awe surround us, and their benefits are profound,” Keltner explains. Recent studies exploring this complex emotion have discovered compelling connections between the experience of awe and enhanced critical and creative thinking faculties, improved health, a sense of embededness into collective folds and an increase in pro-social behaviours such as kindness, self-sacrifice, co-operation and resource-sharing.
Awe is also one of the few emotions that can reconfigure our sense of time and immerse us in the present moment. All of these characteristics will improve the quality of healthcare delivered.Science shows us that in medical settings – stress happens, burnout happens. Sick days, errors, overwhelm, are costly and can be mitigated when you are able to rejuvenate. The Rejuvenation Station is your private time and space to breathe and shift to a fresh perspective by subjecting yourself to the healing power of beauty itself. Purposeful video and music combine to create the desired effect.
Through the evidence-based phenomena of what is known as “Biophilia” (our love and affinity for nature) coupled with thoughtfully created soundtracks designed to catalyze the “Relaxation Response”, (healthier states of brain, heart and breath physiology), the Rejuvenation Station provides a “one-stop’ opportunity to relax, recharge and renew oneself in minutes. Its awe-some.
When caregivers are less stressed, they make fewer errors and this can make a direct influence on operational outcomes. At a recent sound health event at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, they reported on current research on the positive effects of music and health. Other research being conducted on the experience of AWE has demonstrated the health benefits of being in a nature experience that elicits the emotions of awe.

- Cortisol has been termed the stress hormone, because its secreted in higher levels during the bodies fight or flight response to stress, resulting in severe stress related changes in the body. Activating the body’s relaxations response becomes critical. In our high stress culture the body doesn’t have time to recover.
The neurologist, author, and garden-enthusiast Oliver Sacks wrote beautifully about his affection for gardens, posthumously published in his Everything in Its Place:“As a writer, I find gardens essential to the creative process; as a physician, I take my patients to gardens whenever possible. All of us have had the experience of wandering through a lush garden or a timeless desert, walking by a river or an ocean, or climbing a mountain and finding ourselves simultaneously calmed and reinvigorated, engaged in mind, refreshed in body and spirit. The importance of these physiological states on individual and community health is fundamental and wide-ranging. In 40 years of medical practice, I have found only two types of non-pharmaceutical “therapy” to be vitally important for patients with chronic neurological diseases: music and gardens.”We at Aesthetic Audio Systems, in creating the Rejuvenation Station, honor the work of Dr. Sacks, Don Campbell and other pioneers in art and healing.
Each Rejuvenation Go!™ station is equipped with a before and after evaluation that tracks how people are feeling before and after each program. Data is easily downloadable using an ipad or a smart phone to track which programs are used more often and the effect of experiencing the Rejuvenation Go!™ station has on each employee.
